Crime in Teesside is continuing to fall year on year, taking
it from one of the highest areas of crime just a few years
ago, to way down the list today. In the last year alone it
has seen a 15% reduction in the amount of crime committed in
the area, which correlates to around 7,500 less victims of
crime than last year, making it one of the top areas for
reduction of crime in the country. The news comes at a time
when finances are being cut all the time and bad news is all
around, which makes the massive drop all the more
impressive.
One of the biggest areas that has been reduced is robberies,
falling an amazing 27% in just twelve months. So why is it
that the figures are dropping so dramatically? It falls down
to two main points: the great work done by Cleveland police
and public awareness.
More and more people are installing home security in
Teesside. From alarm systems to CCTV security cameras in
Teesside residences and businesses, more and more people
have been taking the once frightening crime statistics into
their own hands and ensuring that they are protected.
The Cleveland police force now has the highest level of
public confidence in the country meaning that they will also
undoubtedly be feared more than any other force by
criminals. However, they don’t plan to stop there with this
good work, and have pledged to do everything possible to
improve their performance even further.
However, just because crime rates have fallen, it does not
mean people can simply become complacent. Home security in
Teesside is still as important as ever and sales of CCTV
camera systems in Teesside won’t be slowing anytime soon.
After all, however good a police force is, they can’t do it
all on their own.
