Today, you will find a wide array of high lights from
floodlights to of course those sparkling chandeliers. If the
fixture is dainty with all kinds of dangling things then you
know you must be careful, whereas that floodlights are not
such a tedious task. This article will help you with the
basics on cleaning these high light fixtures.
Before you just grab a ladder and climb up to the ceiling,
you should first be prepared. You will need to gather all
your cleaning items and place them in a bucket, which is the
best way to carry them up the ladder. If the light fixture
has many different sections, you should be prepared to take
them apart so you can clean all those edges and crevices. If
this is the case, he sure to draw a picture so you will know
how the fixture goes back together. It does not have to be
perfect just so you know how to fit it all back together
properly. Of course, if you are cleaning floodlights you
will not have to worry about this problem.
To get the items together you will need a ladder, white
gloves, lint free cloths, and a drop cloth. The drop cloth
will hopefully protect anything you might drop from breaking
and if not at least will ensure the glass stays in one area.
The main reason to use gloves is that glass bulbs and globes
will show fingerprints, so wearing gloves prevents this from
happening.
Before climbing, the ladder be sure to turn off the lights
and allow them to cool. If should also tape the light switch
to ensure the little ones do not accidentally turn the
lights on. If you need light in order to clean use other
lamps or even a drop light to give you the light you need to
clean properly. Glass is best cleaned with Dawn dish soap or
vinegar as these will not leave streaks and will ensure to
get rid of the grease that can accumulate on the glass.
Use the ladder correctly and never overreach. If you cannot
reach without stretching, move the ladder.
