The Convenience Of Glass Splashbacks For Kitchens |

There are of course a number of possible choices when it comes to splashbacks, with perhaps the most popular choice being tiles. Tiles can be wiped clean relatively easily, and as there is a wide range of colours and styles it's almost always possible to find some which suit the style, colour and look of your kitchen fairly easily. But tiles have three clear disadvantages when compared to glass splashbacks. The first disadvantage is the fact they are quite difficult to put up. Unless of course you happen to be a tiler, putting up tiles so that they are equally spaced and level can be a very time consuming and fiddly task. Glass splashbacks on the other hand are usually manufactured to fit, and are supplied in one piece which means that it simply needs lifting into place and then fixing to the wall. The whole process takes a few minutes to complete, making it a much more attractive choice. The second disadvantage with tiles is that when it comes to working around sockets and pipes, it can be very hard to cut tiles to fit. You’ll almost certainly end up cracking and breaking several tiles in the process, and the finished result may not be entirely what you’d hoped for. Again, glass splashbacks for kitchens are manufactured to be a precise fit, and this includes pre cut gaps and spaces for things such as sockets, pipes and awkward corners. This means that fitting a glass splashback really is the easiest option of all. But the third disadvantage of tiles for splashbacks is their cleanliness and hygiene. Whilst it is certainly true that tiles can be wiped clean fairly easily, the same isn’t always true for the grouting between the tiles. This is usually a porous material, and may well be uneven, especially near the tops, bottoms and edges of tiles. The result is that even a small imperfection can easily harbour millions of germs and bacteria, and if the grouting isn’t good then bacteria will almost certainly be lurking just inches from your family’s food. Glass splashbacks, as well as glass worktops, are without equal as far as health and hygiene is concerned. Because glass splashbacks and worktops are manufactured in one single piece in most cases, this means no joins, no seams and no grout. Effectively there is nowhere for germs, bacteria or mould spores to hide, and when it comes to cleaning, a quick spray and a wipe is all that’s needed to keep your kitchen looking pristine and clean, and your family’s health safely protected. Whilst tiles are available in a wide range of colours and styles, glass splashbacks and worktops are also available in a massive range. Coloured glass or colour backed glass is available in almost any colour in the spectrum, giving you a huge choice, but when you add in other features such as embedded LED lighting and either frosted or smooth glass, the ways in which your kitchen can be styled are really limited only by your imagination. From glossy LED under lit fiery red worktops to sleek black splashbacks and from aqua coloured frosted glass with LED lighting creating a diffused glow to iridescent citrus yellow, glass splashbacks for kitchens and glass worktops aren’t just about style, they’re also about safety, hygiene, and convenience. |
